David Schwiebert lived in the room next to mine in Welch Hall during our Freshmen year, along with Al McIvain.  We all joined different fraternities, but I frequently got together with Dave, and his Chi Phi fraternity brother, Ken (Soaky) Sokolof. Dave was very intelligent, rather low keyed, yet somewhat rebellious - and fun to be around. We became good friends. Dave met a lady during the first Freshman get-together (Alice?) and they were very close through most of our college years. During the summer of ’69 I obtained a job at a resort in Vermont, and on my way there enjoyed seeing Dave and stayed at his parents’ home in New Canaan, CT. The last time I was with Dave was in his off campus apartment just before graduation, and at that time he was with a different woman, just a year younger than us, and one of the pretiest at OWU. Unfortunately I lost track of Dave as I started trying to build a career. I was deeply saddened when I learned he passed away much too early in life - in 1979 when he was only about 30-years old.
