Charling Chang Fagan

After graduating from OWU I went to CWRU and obtained a degree in library science. I have since worked at the Cleveland Public Library, Bunker Hill Community College, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; then 15 years at the Columbia University Libraries; after those 25 years as Director of Libraries and Academic Computing at Sarah Lawrence College. Thought I had retired but was talked into going to Shanghai for three years to start the library at the new campus for NYU.
I have been volunteering as translator for Chinese crews on container ships in Port Newark. Having received a degree in Education to teach ESOL, I now volunteer to teach various groups during the week. Of course, my grandson comes first!

I loved my years at OWU. I remember the long trek from Austin Hall to campus. Particularly as I had no idea an out how cold it would be, and my inadequate winter clothes were still on a ship.
I remember the accessibility of the faculty and the way the university had set up host families for " foreign" students. I am still in touch with families whom I met!
Aunt Ruth, or Ruth Davies, used to take care of students who needed extra cash and give them "chores".
Bill and I met at the library circulation desk where I worked.
Our daughter went to OWU and was an Art major and think spent most of her waking moments in Edgar Hall.
